Soap Berries

How do Soap Berries work?

Soap Berries contain saponins, which are natural foaming agents. When they are in contact with water they are activated and release gentle anti-bacterial suds. They foam up lift the dirt off laundry and kill bacteria too. And yes, they really work!

How do I use Soap Berries in my laundry?

  • Put around 5 Soap Berries into a small cotton bag (included) and put the whole bag in the washing machine drum with your laundry and use your normal washing settings.
  • Once your wash is complete, take out the bag and leave to dry. This can then be used for around 7 wash cycles.
  • After these 7 washes are done compost the used Soap Berries and refill your bag.

What are Soap Berries?

Soap Berries (or Sapindus) are a dried fruit, similar to a lychee that release gentle anti-bacterial suds when activated in water.

Our Soap Berries originate in India, where they have been used for centuries to cover all types of cleaning needs including washing dishes and it is regularly used as shampoo too.

Why are they a more sustainable choice?

Soap Berries contain no harsh-chemicals unlike supermarket alternatives and are 100% natural.

The lack of harsh-chemicals mean they are better to aquatic life, which is heavily affected by what we use in our water systems.

Soap Berries are also biodegradable and can be composted after use. Most supermarket alternatives stick around for a very long time and contain ingredients, which can pollute the environment.

Can people with sensitive skin use Soap Berries?

Soap Berries are naturally hypoallergenic so should not cause any reactions.

If you're unsure, we offer taster packs which can be used for around 7 washes which are great to give them a try before comitting to a whole jar.
